The information I am going to share about the ways to reach Bhutan has been collected from one of my friends who visited the country. So, I thought It would be helpful to share that information here to make your trip smooth and perfect.
How To Reach Bhutan From Bangalore:
Bangalore is one of the IT hubs of India. People here always look for peace and space from the hustle and bustle of busy schedules. Bhutan is a landlocked country, known for its breathtaking scenic views and biodiversity. Bhutan was also named the Happiest Country in 2016. Thimphu is Bhutan’s largest city and it serves as the capital of Bhutan.
So, if you want to reach Bhutan from Bangalore, there are 3 ways to reach the destination:
Reach Bhutan From Bangalore By Air:
Although there are no direct flights from Kempegowda International Airport To Paro International Airport (PBH, Bhutan), there are some other ways to reach your destination by air.
Take a flight to Kolkata from Bangalore, and then Kolkata to Paro International Airport via Bagdogra Airport. The Druk Air of Bhutan has direct and connected flights from other cities in India. But if you want to travel from Bangalore, then reaching Kolkata would be the best option to reach Bhutan by air.
Reach Bhutan From Bangalore By Road:
Again, no shortcut or bus service is running from Bangalore to Bhutan. So, you need to reach Kolkata, by train or air. Then you can plan for Bhutan by road. If you reach Bagdogra, then this is the nearest location from Pheuntsholing of Bhutan. It is only around 150 km from Bagdogra to Pheuntsholling.
By Cab Or Private Vehicle:
You can reach Bhutan from Bagdogra by opting for Cab services or private vehicles. It will take 4-5 hours of driving to reach the country. Gelephu and Samdrup Jongkhar are also two more entry points to Bhutan.
By Bus From Kolkata To Bhutan:
If you are not comfortable reaching Bagdogra by air, then you can choose to go by bus service from Kolkata city. There is a direct bus service running from Kolkata to Pheuntsholing, so tourists can easily reach by bus to witness the mountainous country. Tourists can also take a bus from Siliguri to reach Bhutan.
Reach Bhutan By Train:
There is no direct train running from Bangalore to Bhutan. So, again you have to reach Kolkata. Siliguri, New Alipurduar, New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, and Hasimara are the best option you can reach from Kolkata.
But Hasimara is the nearest railway station to Phentsholing, only 15 km away. After reaching Hasimara, take a bus, shared taxi, jeep, or auto-rickshaw to reach Bhutan comfortably.
There are two permits required to enter Bhutan from India. These permits are free. One permit you need to take from Pheuntsholing, the border between India and Bhutan, and the second permit from Thimphu, if you intend to visit places other than Thimphu and Paro. Happy Travelling.
