Mysore Palace–
Mysore Palace is the most visited place in this city. If you visit Mysore & you haven’t planned for the palace, then you have seen nothing in Mysore. It is only 2 km away from the Mysore Railway Station and 11 km from Mysore Airport.
It is constructed by combining Hindu, Islamic, Rajput, and Gothic architectural styles, and is surrounded by a beautiful garden filled with many flowers and various plants. This Maharaja palace is also one of the best places to visit in Mysore.
Start your Mysore trip after having breakfast of your choice and start moving towards the Mysore palace to witness the historical heritage.
My one more suggestion would be, you should visit the Mysore Zoo before visiting the palace. The zoo opens at around 8.30 am. 📍Google Maps
Mysore Zoo
Mysore Zoo brings you some of the rarest species in its close vicinity. This oldest zoo in India is home to a wide range of animal and plant species.
It was opened in 1892 by the then Maharaja, who brought infrequent animals while traveling in different nations. This place also serves as an educational center for wildlife conservation.

St. Philomena’s Cathedral Church
One must also include St Philomena’s Cathedral in Mysore’s itinerary for its immense religious and historical significance on a one-day visit to Mysore. It is a huge church that a good number of people can fit into the hall of this second largest church in Asia, and the magnificent sanctum adds a touch of elegance to the Church.
Don’t forget to write down this place in your ‘Places To Visit In Mysore In One Day Trip’ note. This place can give you peace of mind if you plan to spend some time here in the evening.
You can visit the church after exploring Mysore Zoo. The distance between the two places is around 3 km. You can capture some good images standing in front of the church. It looks great!

Chamundi Hills
Chamundi Hills is one of the most famous places to visit in Mysore. There is a temple named ‘Chamundeshwari Temple’. As Chamundi Hills is well known for its Chamundeshwari Temple, it has two more temples dedicated to Lakshmi Narayana Swamy and Mahabaleswara as well.
There is a feeling of calmness and peace when you visit this temple. Since the temple is located on a hilltop, the views when climbing the hill or descending are stunning.
It is quite scenic, and you can either get direct entry or go through the queue. We visited on Friday and it was quite busy because it is considered a very auspicious day here. This is one of the best places to visit in Mysore in one day.
In addition to its historical significance, this temple has always a long queue of devotees, an excellent parking lot also can be seen, there is a small market on the way to the Chamundeshwari Temple, a magnificent view of Mysore is the best thing to witness from here, and this temple has a very fascinating architecture. You should never miss this tourist spot on your one-day trip to Mysore.

Brindavana Gardens–
If you are planning a one-day trip to Mysore, you must visit Brindavan Gardens at least once otherwise, you will not be satisfied with the trip. Brindavan Garden is among India’s best terrace gardens.
A Musical Fountain synchronized with the flow of music is the main attraction here. It is inspired by the Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir, & the ancient Mughal style.
It’s a really beautiful garden, spread across the area with flowers and water fountains. The architecture of the garden is amazing with the feeling of a terrace with stairs. You can see different types of flowers scattered across the area.
During nights, there is a light and water show in the garden. You can get tickets at the entrance. Food stalls and small shops with snacks are located in the area. Boating facilities are also present in the Brindavana Gardens.
Timings: 8 am – 8 pm
Ticket Price: Rs.50/- for adults & Rs. 10/- for children (Rs. 100 for DSLR cameras)
So, Brindavana Gardens would be your last place on your ‘places to visit in Mysore In One Day Trip’ plan. You can switch the time of visiting both Chamundi Hills and Brindavana Gardens according to your schedule.
