Eco Park in New Town is one of the biggest parks in India. This park occupies an area of 480 acres, enclosed by a waterbody of 104 acres with a central island. The main places of attractions in this park are Artists Cottage & Adda Zone, Musical Fountain, Urban Museum, Bishnupur Temple Replica, Visva Bharati University Shantiniketan Bell Replica, Seven Wonders Of The World, Sabuj Sathi Island, Graffiti Walls, Biswa Bangla Haat, & Children’s park, etc.

There are a few gardens available at Eco Tourism Park. The Butterfly Garden, Mask Garden, Tea Garden, Formal Garden, Bamboo Garden, Fruit Garden, Meadow Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, Sculpture Garden, and Rabi Aranya.

Biswa Bangla Gate also known as Kolkata Gate is a hanging restaurant situated in Action Area 1, New Town. Various parts of New Town are visible from the visitor’s gallery and restaurant, which is surrounded by glass.

Biswa Bangla Gate is 180 feet in height and within the ring are decorative paintings of luminaries drawn on the wall, which is accessible via two staircases and an elevator.

03 Mother’s Wax Museum

Mother’s Wax Museum is another awesome tourist destination to visit in New Town. It is located in Action Area ll, New Town & was founded in November 2014.

04 Coffee House New Town

Don’t be confused with the name Coffee House. It might sound like just a regular coffee shop but this is a beautifully designed building with some great options for food, and snacks, and almost an evening tourist spot for spending moments & chit chats with your friends, family, or close ones.

Coffee House New Town is located in AA-ll, New Town, Opposite Amity University.

05 Smart Street- New Town

Smart Street is located in Action Area 1B, New Town. There is a senior’s park Swapno Bhor available near Smart Street. New Town Mela Ground is also adjacent to the street. If you just plan to roam around New Town for some relaxation, Smart Street is the best option you can choose and this is one of the best places to visit in New Town, Kolkata. Because these types of streets you would hardly find to witness anywhere in India.

The street gives a nice view of the Biswa Bangla Gate & where you can ride an app-based bicycle & E-Bikes are also available. Seating areas are available to take some rest while walking or to have a conversation with your friends & family. 06 Rabindra Tirtha

Rabindra Tirtha is a Cultural & Research Institute that was built in memory of Rabindranath Tagore on his 150th Birth Anniversary. It is located in the main spot of New Town just opposite the Biswa Bangla Gate.

Rabindra Tirtha has an Auditorium, Art Galleries, a Music Room, A Mini Cinema Theatre, Exhibition Halls, etc. Many cultural events and exhibitions take place in Rabindra Tirtha. This would be the best place to visit near New Town for the admirer of Rabindranath Tagore.

07 Aircraft Museum New Town

This is the 2nd naval aircraft museum in India situated in New Town, Action Area 1, Near New Town Police Station. For setting up the aircraft museum, a decommissioned Tupolev Tu-142 of the Indian Navy was presented to the Government of West Bengal in February 2020. There is also a Children’s Park and a coffee shop in addition to the aircraft on display.

08 Aquatica Water Park

Located near New Town, Aquatica is the largest Water Theme Park & Resort & Banquet in Kolkata, operated and owned by Vishal Water World Private Limited. Offering thrilling rides, attractions, live events, and a luxurious resort. 

Aquatica Banquet Resort & Water Park is a great place for thrill seekers, featuring Kolkata’s most popular roller coaster and waterpark park rides. It is located 3km away from Biswa Bangla Gate. Aquatica is one of the best places to visit in New Town for water adventures.

Clock Tower is situated in Action Area 1, New Town. It is just before the Kolkata Central Mall. If you love to spend time in a street where street foods can be your choice, then you must visit the Clock Tower in New Town in the evening. Also, the view is mesmerizing and a mini garden is there to chill and take a photo session with the Clock Tower. It is only 1.5 KM from Biswa Bangla Gate.

11 Eco Urban Village

It offers a taste of rural glimpses to visitors in New Town Kolkata’s Eco Urban Village, a breath of fresh air in the middle of the hustle and bustle of city life. Eco Urban Village is built on a 3-acre plot with a 23-acre waterbody. It is more famous for picnic spots for picnic lovers. 

For picnics, there are two separate areas with separate cooking and eating areas. Aside from that, there are swings and seesaws in the playground to keep kids entertained. The winding trail by the lake has gained a lot of popularity among joggers and walkers. There are also colorful paddle boats available for those interested in taking a boat ride around the lake.

In the nearby water body of Eco Urban Village, migrant birds from Southeast Asia congregate at least 17 types of bird species. This makes this area a very popular bird-watching destination.

Eco Urban Village is open from 7 AM to 6 PM. Closed on Monday.

12 Nazrul Tirtha

Nazrul Tirtha is a cultural museum and academic research center located in Action Area 1, New Town. It is only 2.7 Km away from Biswa Bangla Gate. Nazrul Tirtha is dedicated to the poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. It was inaugurated on 24 May 2014 during the 115th Birth Anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Open Air Theatre can be witnessed in this venue. Some art exhibitions also take place in Nazrul Tirtha. Some of the attractions are New Town Library, Radio New Town, Hello Heritage, Minority Dev. Corporation, Nababiana, Muhafiz Khana, and Nazrul Museum.

Also, Nazrul Tirtha is running a cinema hall where you can watch blockbuster movies and all.

Nazrul Tirtha is open daily from 12 PM to 7 PM.

13 Harinalaya- The Deer Park Mini Zoo

Spotted Deer and Bark Deer are among the most harmless animals in the world at Harinalaya, this is a 12.5-acre deer park, also called a mini zoo. It is situated opposite gate no 6 of Eco Park, New Town.

Recently, 10 crocodiles and a few species of birds have been added to the zoo in July 2022.

Timing: 12:00 PM to 7:30 PM

14 Museum Of Bengal Modern Arts

The Museum Of Bengal Modern Arts is located in Action Area Ill, New Town. This is an awesome modern art gallery. You can witness a huge sculpture of Ravana outside when you visit the museum. Along with Kolkata’s famous modern artist’s work gallery, there is an art gallery of Bangladeshi artists too.

If anyone is interested to explore artistic exploration, this museum is a must-visit spot for sure.

15. Shopping Malls In New Town

Axis Mall: 

Axis Mall is very close to Biswa Bangla Gate, located in Action Area 1 of New Town. You can shop from the Spencer store located inside the mall. A Snow Park is also available for visitors in Axis Mall. For movie lovers, Bioscope Movie Hall is there. Many famous brands are there and food courts are available both inside and outside the mall. Axis Mall is among one of the best places in New Town in a shopping mall category that gets huge visitors. There are various restaurants but one of my favorites you must try is the delicious Chicken Lollipop@99 from Noodle Oodle Restaurant.
